Twelve years ago we shipped a tiny plugin to solve a very specific headache. Internet Explorer could not display PDFs inside a WordPress page without breaking something, and a lot of you were tired of telling visitors to download a file and open it somewhere else. Today, we are launching the plugin that has been quietly growing out of that one. It is called TNC FlipBook 3D, and it has very little in common with the 2014 original. Except, of course, the people who built it and the audience we built it for.
In 2014, the problem was simple and the solution was small. Chrome and Firefox could embed PDFs natively. Internet Explorer could not. Site owners were watching a meaningful share of their visitors run into a wall of broken plugins and “save this file” prompts. We built PDF Viewer for WordPress to make all of that go away. It did one job. It did it cleanly. And it landed on CodeCanyon shortly after.
Then the questions started to change.
First it was, can the pages look like they turn? Then it was, can it feel like a real magazine? Then a real book, with weight and shadow and the kind of paper sound you get when you flip a page in a library. We said yes a lot. Page-flip came in. Thumbnails. Search. Table of contents. Shortcode controls. The plugin grew one tab and one toggle at a time, the way most plugins do when they have an audience that keeps asking for the next thing.
That plugin is what we call TNC FlipBook Classic today. Over 9,000 sales later, it is still on CodeCanyon. It is still maintained. And quite a few of you reading this still ship Classic to your readers every week.
Then the questions changed again. They got bigger. People did not just want a PDF that flipped. They wanted hotspots they could place visually. Audio narration their visitors could listen to. Accessibility audits they could hand to legal. DRM that did not stop at a watermark. Lead capture inside the FlipBook. A way to monetize a digital magazine without leaving the page.
That is not a setting you toggle on. That is a different plugin.
Why a new plugin instead of a Classic update
We thought about it for a long time. Honestly, the easier path would have been to ship a new version of Classic and call it done. We chose not to, for three reasons.
The technology shifted underneath us. Classic is a 2D engine, a CSS page-flip on top of a PDF renderer. It is light, it is fast, and a lot of you picked it for exactly those reasons. TNC FlipBook 3D is built on Three.js with WebGL. Real geometry. Real lighting. Real page bend physics. Trying to layer that onto Classic would have meant breaking every site that depended on Classic feeling like Classic.
The design shifted. Classic’s admin grew tab by tab over a decade. It works, and it is familiar if you have been with us for years, but if we had to start over today we would lay it out very differently. So we did. The new admin ships a tabbed metabox, dropzone uploads, drag-to-reorder card lists, a visual hotspot editor, a live shortcode generator, and helper text under every field. Same data model. Less friction. Less guessing.
The scope shifted. Classic does one job and it does it well. TNC FlipBook 3D is closer to a publishing platform. Cloud text-to-speech across five providers. WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility audits in CI, not as a marketing claim. Content protection beyond watermarks. An addon ecosystem for monetization, SEO, lead capture, stamping, analytics, and auto-creation. Page builder bridges for Elementor, WPBakery, and Avada. 194+ languages out of the box. Folding all of that into Classic would have hurt the people who picked Classic because it is small, fast, and predictable.
A separate plugin meant we could rebuild the parts that needed rebuilding, without breaking the parts that were already working for you.
Classic still has its place
I mean this. If Classic is doing what you need, you do not need to do anything today. Specifically, Classic is still the right pick if any of this sounds like you:
- You like the 2D feel and the lighter footprint that comes with not loading a WebGL engine
- You like the existing admin and your team is already trained on it
- You only need PDF embeds, basic flip animation, and shortcodes. No 3D, no cloud TTS, no hotspots, no DRM beyond watermarks
- You target browsers or low-power devices where WebGL is a constraint
If any of that sounds like you, stay on Classic with our blessing. We are not deprecating it, and we are not planning to.
Try it before you read another word
Before I tell you what is in it, you should just see it. We put together a live demo gallery with FlipBooks across different content types: magazines, catalogs, educational books, restaurant menus, and accessibility-focused publications. The 3D page-turn, cloud TTS, hotspots, and reading mode are all live in your browser. No signup, no download.
What is actually new in TNC FlipBook 3D
- A page-turn that actually feels like a page-turn. Real WebGL geometry, soft shadows, hardcover style, realistic page bend. A 2D CSS fallback ships for older browsers, so nobody gets locked out.
- Cloud text-to-speech with five providers. Google, Azure, Amazon Polly, ElevenLabs, OpenAI. Plus the browser’s native voices as a free fallback. Sentence-by-sentence highlighting on the page as it reads.
- Accessibility you can verify. Every release is gated on an automated WCAG 2.0/2.1/2.2 A and AA audit before it ships. Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader support are first-class, not bolted on.
- A visual hotspot editor. Add clickable links, popups, videos, and notes by clicking and dragging. No coordinates, no JSON.
- Three content sources. Single PDF, multi-PDF combining (with named chapters), and image galleries.
- Content protection that goes beyond watermarks. Screenshot deterrents, devtools detection, print watermarks, right-click and keyboard shortcut blocking, optional proxy endpoint.
- A growing addon ecosystem you only pay for if you use. Monetize, SEO (per-FlipBook OG and schema), Lead Capture, Stamper (personalized watermarks per reader), Analytics (self-hosted, no third party), Auto-Create from a folder of PDFs, and page builder bridges for Elementor, WPBakery, and Avada. New addons land regularly, and All-Access owners get every future one at no extra cost.
- A redesigned admin. Tabbed metabox, helper text under every field, modern toggles, dropzone uploads, drag-to-reorder cards, a live shortcode generator, a welcome page with onboarding.
- A 1-click migration toolkit. Imports posts from Classic, Real3D, DearFlip, and Interactive3D, with optional 301 or 302 redirects from old URLs to new ones so your SEO does not blink.

It would be strange to launch a new plugin and not say where we sit in the market. So, plainly: we built TNC FlipBook 3D after spending a lot of time with the alternatives, and we believe it outperforms every FlipBook plugin we tested. On accessibility. On content protection. On text-to-speech. On monetization. On hotspot ergonomics. On admin UX.
You do not have to take our word for it. We wrote it down, in detail, on five comparison pages linked from our footer. Every claim is something you can verify yourself.
What comes next
Frequently asked questions
Can I try it before I buy?
I bought Classic on CodeCanyon. Do I have to switch to 3D?
No. Classic is still supported, still on sale, and still receiving security and compatibility updates. Switch only if 3D’s specific features (WebGL page-turn, cloud TTS, DRM, hotspot editor, addons) are actually valuable to you.
Can I move my existing FlipBooks from Classic to 3D automatically?
Yes. TNC FlipBook 3D ships a migration toolkit under FlipBooks > Migration that imports posts from Classic, Real3D, DearFlip, and Interactive3D, with an optional 301/302 redirect from the old URLs to the new ones so SEO is preserved.
How does the 40% Classic loyalty discount work?
It applies to any annual or lifetime plan (year one for annual, full price for lifetime), runs through May 31, 2026, and is sent by email to our mailing list. If you are not on the list, request a code on the Classic vs 3D page. We verify your CodeCanyon purchase code and reply the same business day.
What licensing options does TNC FlipBook 3D have?
Annual and lifetime licenses for the main plugin, plus an All-Access bundle that includes every current and future addon (Monetize, SEO, Lead Capture, Stamper, Analytics, Auto-Create, and the page builder bridges). All options come with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
What browsers and devices does it work on?
Any modern browser with WebGL: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. Desktop, tablet, and mobile. A 2D CSS fallback ships for browsers without WebGL. Mobile auto-forces single-page mode below 768px to keep performance smooth.
Will Classic ever be discontinued?
We have no plans to discontinue Classic. It serves a real audience and we will keep maintaining it for security and WordPress core compatibility.
Here is to the next chapter.
